HOW TO IDENTIFY THE TURBO CODE

We start from the concept that a yourbo, or turbine, can be applied to several cars, just as one car can mount turbines different.

This can cause considerable problems when requesting a replacement part, because you have to be 100% sure of the product you are going to request from the supplier.

In this guide we will help you understand where and which codes are needed to request the replacement of the part without worries and errors.

How to interpret turbo codes

All turbo have two types of codes:

  • OEM codeThe number provided by the manufacturer of the vehicle (Bmw, Audi, Mercedes, Fiat, etc.) on which the turbo is mounted.
  • Original Code: the set of numbers that the original manufacturer of the turbo (Garrett, BorgWarner, Mitsubishi, IHI, etc.) associates with each of its products.

It is preferable to search using the original turbo code, although our search system allows all declinations to be found, e.g. with or without '-' separators.

How to find the code for a turbo

codes of turbo are present on the metal plate, or engraved above its intake snail (as in the example photo).

How to identify the turbo code

GARRETT TURBO CODES

Let us consider a Garrett code: 725864-0001.

The 725864 is the main code and -0001 represents the extension.

The first number of a code Garrett can be 4, 7 or 8.

Extensions with format -0001, -1 or -0001S are equivalent.

BORGWARNER TURBO CODES

Borgwarner Turbo Codes

The Turbo BorgWarner code consists of 11 numbers.

Usually starts with 5 or 1 (ES: 5439-970-0127 / 1441142556R).

NB - The same code can be expressed with or without separators between the numbers, so the turbine 5439-970-0127 can be written as 54399700127.

A code BorgWarnerHowever, it can also begin with a few letters:

  • K - e.g. 'K03-057....'.
  • BV - e.g. 'BV40D....'.
  • KP - e.g. 'KP35....'.

Here is a short guide to converting alphanumeric codes to numeric codes :

BV39B-050 = 5439-970-0050/ 54399700050/ 5439-971-0050/ 5439-980-0050/ 5439-988-0050... etc.

  • K - e.g. 'K03-057....'.
  • BV - e.g. 'BV40D....'
  • KP - e.g. 'KP35....'

Therefore, let us take a code and study its declinations:

BV39B-050 = 5439-970-0050 and is equal to 54399700050. Likewise corresponds to 5439-971-0050 and to 5439-980-0050 and so on.
